The best way for home cinema system?
Hey, I’ve recently gutted my bedroom and decided to re-design the whole lot from scratch. I have an idea for my computer and television set-up and would like your advice on the best way around this idea.
What I want to do is link my computer to the new tv I’m going to buy so that I can use it as a pc monitor and also watch dvds from the comp too. Can you buy cables that are longer than 5 metres, and what cable do I go for? HDMI cable or standard monitor cable? I want it all linked up to Windows Media Centre too, if I’ve built the computer myself is it possible to buy a remote for this and a receiver too?
If you plan to use your computer hooked up to your TV you must buy an Lcd Television DO NOT BUY a plasma because it will not work. You can destroy plasmas by leaving static images on the screen(ie computer desktop screen) Your best bet for cabling would be to run a vga cable to the television from your computer. I would not recommend a hdmi cable over 25′ because 1 that will be insanely expensive and 2 hdmi cables lose quality over long distances. As long as your video card on your pc can output 1080p resolution, you can still get high definition via a vga cable. There are also remotes available for windows media center, and could probably be purchased at a local computer store.
